Common questions

Does Oman have income tax on salary?

No. Oman does not levy personal income tax on ordinary employment income, so salary is paid without income tax deducted and employees do not file an annual income tax return.

Is anything deducted from pay in Oman?

Income tax is not, but social insurance and pension contributions can apply depending on nationality and employer, and they are outside what this page models. Oman's Royal Decree 56/2025 introduces a flat 5% personal income tax above an OMR 42,000/year net-income threshold, but only from 1 January 2028 -- not yet in effect and not modeled here. Revisit this jurisdiction before that date.

Could that change?

Tax law changes by statute, not by custom. This page records what is in force as at 2026-08-27, with the official sources listed, and is re-checked rather than assumed.
