Office Software That Is Subscription-Only
Published 8/31/2026
Tools in the directory with no free tier and no one-time purchase — you pay monthly or annually or you do not use them. Worth knowing before you build a workflow on one.
This is the list nobody publishes, because it is not a recommendation. These tools have no free plan and no way to buy them outright: access ends when payment does.
That is not a criticism. Plenty of them are the best tool in their category, and a subscription is often a fair way to pay for software that is continuously maintained. But it is a fact worth knowing before your team's documents, designs or records live inside one — the question to ask early is how you would get your data out if you stopped paying.

The question to ask first
Before committing a team to anything on this list, find the export. Not the marketing page about integrations — the actual button that produces a file you can open somewhere else. A tool with a clean export is a tool you can leave, and that changes how much the recurring cost really matters.
